Balenciaga remains number one as the world’s hottest brand

Demna Gvasalia continues to take the fashion world by storm, as her Balenciaga collection continues to be the world’s hottest brand in the latest quarter, thanks to its Met Gala-themed looks and co-branded collection with The Simpsons. The re-release of the iconic Neo Classic Bag also topped the list of women’s top ten most popular items.

The success of Balenciaga goes beyond the previous collaborations and Demna’s personal experience, with celebrity-led campaigns such as Justin Bieber’s image campaign and the association with Kanye West to create clothing around the ‘Donda’ album. As well as making waves in the real world, Balenciaga has recently announced its move into the meta-universe, with the brand’s aggressive approach to style also being well received by the public. The following two, three, and four places were taken by Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton. In contrast, Moncler, which had risen from eleventh place in the previous quarter to fifth place, also made it to the top ten men’s items with its Cuvellier short-run down jacket, which has quickly become a dark horse in the world.

With the death of Virgil Abloh, creative director of Off-White and Louis Vuitton menswear, Off-White did not feature in the Top 20 this quarter. Still, the fashion industry mourned the loss of Abloh, who, at the age of 41, had a considerable impact on the industry. In the temporary 18 quarters the list has been running, Off-White has featured five times. In just 18 quarters of the list’s run, Off-White has topped the Hot Brands list five times, and interested readers should check out the complete Q4 list on the Lyst website.
